Blending In With My Personal Style + Style Tips!

Transferring to a new location have initially distressed me. Everything was unaccustomed and I was back to zero, career-wise. Then, I was also in direly wanting to activate my Fashion Styling skills. The artist in me had a compelling fighting spirit. Why be afraid, why hide, why remain dormant? So, I went online and befriended creative minds alike.  And guess what? Last quarter of this year, I have successfully made my very first fashion styling collaboration with amazing Filipino talents in the field of photography here in Doha, Qatar and finally got acquainted with my online-turn-real-life friends: Eds Dela Cruz and Christine Lyn Espinosa.

Part of resettling is the embracing of foreign culture and adapting to their lifestyle which includes dressing up according to their norms.  If you have been following this blog, you might have known by now that my personal style has permanently gravitated to a direction that always had a touch of modesty. I prefer covering my extremities, wearing tops reaching beyond my hips and layering is my fashion expertise. I must admit that such style propensities are results of irrefutable maturity (aging) and a self-declaration of a well-constructed, carefree and confident style identity. And I am content to be stuck in it.

With MY PERSONAL STYLE Advocacy in tow, it was a breeze BLENDING IN, to this whole new, demure world and I totally love it!

Sigh's Style Tips:

A. HOW TO BLEND INTO A NEW FASHION AND STYLE CULTURE
Dovetailing to your new location with new clothing culture can be merely implemented in just a single, broad and deep word: KNOW i.e., study & understand and acknowledge & respect the culture.  It does not necessitate a total revamp of one's personal style.  A sheer upgrading to a certainly acceptable degree a.k.a. compliance efforts should do.

B. HOW TO INFUSE VIBRANCY INTO A MONOCHROMATIC OUTFIT
An advantage of going monochromatic is the elongation of the body's height, which is favorable for petite women like me.  At times, wearing a top and a bottom from the same color palette appeals dull for some.  To impart vibrancy, sprinkle the outfit with contrasting yet complementing accessories that you can adorn from head to toe: hats, jewelry (faux or real), sunglasses, belts, bags, and footwear.

C. ONE OUTFIT - TWO WAYS TO WEAR
By "one outfit" this would mean, the same set of top and bottom and one accessory, yet maximizing its functionality by donning it in more than one fashion styling.

Common Fashion Items Used: (a) Dress, (b) Wide-Leg Pants, (3) Skinny Stole

Fashion Styling #1, as seen in the photo Above
1. Wear the dress as a top and tucked it into the pants and use the skinny stole as a belt.
2. Accessorize with a pair of dashing earrings and shoes that will complement the colors from the skinny stole.  Top it off with your favorite daytime eyewear.

Fashion Styling #2, as seen in the photo Below
1. Wear the dress as a dressy top, let it flow to its normal length and use the skinny stole as a scarf equally draped over your neck.
2. Accessorize with your favorite sunglasses and shoes that will complement the colors from the skinny stole.

Additional Tip: *The dress have actually longer sleeves but folded to a quarter length for daytime styling.  You can roll it down once the temperature drops especially during the cold seasons.

Hope to have shared some useful styling tips to amp up your personal styles!

This photoshoot is a milestone since it was my first time to grace in front of the lens of other people's cameras.  Generally, my photos in this blog and in my other social media accounts are taken by a family member.  And I am grateful that these two amazing photographers slash new friends have given me a chance to be their "art subject" for an hour and have patiently endured my awkwardness.  Thank you, Eds and Christine! I'm crossing fingers to our next collaboration!

You can drop me an email at sighstyles@gmail.com if you are interested in a fashion styling collaboration here in Doha!

Of Short Vacation and Personal Style

A weekend spent with family in one of the most relaxing places in the world - the beach resort - is indeed a gratifying experience. We seldom give ourselves plain R&R.  Last weekend's brief, yet blissful and fun, getaway was planned several weeks ago and the days had finally come. This is our second time to enjoy an overnight stay at  Plantation Bay  Resort and Spa in Marigondon Mactan Island. By the way, last September 26, 2014, Plantation Bay Resort and Spa's Facebook page has featured the picture above as their Guest Photo of the Week , see HERE .  Thank you Plantation Bay for the feature! I prefer this resort than anywhere else from the long list of beach resorts here in Cebu, since I will always feel safe swimming at their man-made lagoon with salt water on it plus exploring the landscaping of the resort is extremely worth enjoying. Plantation Bay   Resort and Spa is  set in 11 hectares of secluded grounds yet only one hour (when traffic
